Lopsided Exchange: Israel Returns 195 Bodies for 18 Remains, Truce Strains

A lopsided exchange of remains is straining the Gaza truce, with Israel returning 195 Palestinian bodies for just 18 hostage remains from Hamas. This disparity, far from the 15-to-1 ratio, has prompted a public warning from Donald Trump.
Trump, on Truth Social, warned Hamas to “return more bodies” within 48 hours. Hamas has claimed the recovery is difficult, and Egypt has sent heavy machinery to help.
As this crisis tests the truce, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is focused on the future. He declared Sunday that Israel will have the final say on the international peacekeeping force.
Netanyahu stated, “Israel will determine which forces are unacceptable to us,” a move he says the US supports and which he has used to signal a block on Turkey.
The truce was also shaken by an Israeli strike on Nuseirat, which Hamas condemned as a “clear violation.”
