Reagan foundation disputes ad as Trump ends talks

by admin477351

The Ronald Reagan Presidential Foundation is disputing the accuracy of a Canadian ad, a controversy that president Donald Trump has used to “terminate” all trade talks with Ottawa.
The foundation said the ad, from Ontario, used “selective audio” to “misrepresent” Reagan’s 1987 speech and that it is “reviewing its legal options.”
President Trump cited the foundation’s criticism in his post. He called the ad “fraudulent” and “fake,” and accused Canada of “egregious behavior.”
The ad was launched by Ontario premier Doug Ford to protest 35% US tariffs on Canadian goods.
The halt in talks, confirmed by secretary of state Marco Rubio, threatens a massive trade relationship, as over 75% of Canadian exports go to the US.
