A third service member lost their life in northern Iraq during a controlled demolition of unexploded ordnance, while investigations are underway regarding the remains of a potential fourth victim found in Jordan.
The fatalities occurred amidst U.S. forces launching their tenth consecutive strike against Iranian targets. Iran has vowed to retaliate against regional allies supporting American military efforts. The situation has drawn sharp criticism from Democratic lawmakers, with Senator Chris Murphy expressing alarm over the rapidly deteriorating situation. House Democratic leader Hakeem Jeffries condemned the military campaign as a costly and unnecessary war that endangers American troops.
Democrats, including Senators Mark Warner and Chris Van Hollen, have called for an immediate cessation of hostilities, urging the administration to seek congressional approval for any further military actions.
