The Toronto Blue Jays have added a potential franchise-altering player to their system by drafting JoJo Parker, a shortstop and right-handed pitcher, with the eighth pick in the MLB Draft. His selection showcases Toronto’s commitment to drafting all-around, high-ceiling talent.
At just 18, Parker has already etched his name in Mississippi sports history. Coming out of Purvis High School, he becomes their highest-ever draftee, reflecting the national buzz around his abilities.
Offensively, Parker had a monster season, batting .489, with 13 home runs and 35 RBIs. He crossed the plate 64 times and stole 30 bases, adding elite speed to his profile.
He also displayed ace potential on the mound with an 8-2 record, a solid 2.77 ERA, and 89 strikeouts in 55.2 innings. The Blue Jays now hold his professional rights and will work to mold Parker into one of their next breakout stars.
